UNBOXING: Two G.I. Joe blind boxes from The Loyal Subjects

It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to post on here, but am real excited to share the above video.

I attended the Lehigh Valley Comic Con this past weekend. I always go to that event with an eye for something G.I. Joe. I actually bought a Cobra Commander POP figure there last time. Well, this time I grabbed something a little different.

At one booth I found two blind boxes from The Loyal Subjects. These are just outstandingly design figures with incredible detail, which are modeled after the original character designs of the characters, such as Roadblock, Firefly, Barbecue and more.

Barbecue is cooking with gas with his new axe

Some G.I. Joe figures are more challenging to reassemble than others. A few have small parts or accessories that are often the first things to vanish when you first get them.

Barbecue was one such figure. An early favorite of mine, I played with this particular character a lot. He was one of the early, more unique looking Joe figures I can remember owning. I loved him because of the axe. It was just cool.

I couldn’t tell you when his pieces vanished.

Beach Head still needs to get himself together

It’s funny, this is one of those characters I didn’t care much for when I was younger. Couldn’t really tell you why exactly.

Now, I look at Beachhead as being a badass. The character is always depicted as being a little too by the books, but still, tough guy.

Unfortunately the years have claimed his waist, along with his submachine gun.

In all honesty, I can look at all my remaining G.I. Joe action figures and remember when I got them. Birthday, Christmas, random purchase. I have pretty distinct memories for each of them.
